Conveyancing Academy’s Training Pathway Officially Recognised As Industry-leading At Apprenticeship Awards Cymru

Go Compare and Welsh Opera star Wynne Evans rewards The Convey Team with “Go Convey” Jingle as they pick up Best Medium Employer at Apprenticeship Awards Cymru 2021
The Conveyancing Academy’s training pathway has been officially recognised as industry-leading and a major factor in one of the UK’s leading specialist conveyancers winning a top award.
The Convey Team scooped Best Medium Employer at the prestigious Apprenticeship Awards Cymru 2021 organised by the Welsh Government and the National Training Federation for Wales last Thursday (June 17), and won Best New Training Initiative at the British Conveyancing Awards in May.
Both awards recognised the outstanding work of the Conveyancing Academy whose courses Convey Law uses to train its apprentices. The Academy’s “Conveyancing Training Pathway”, which is accredited by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC), includes the Level 3 Practising Conveyancer Legal Diploma Course as well as the CLC Level 4 and Level 6 Apprenticeship courses which lead to Licensed Conveyancer status.
As well as the CLC, the Academy is also recognised by the other leading trade bodies of the conveyancing industry. It is the official training provider of the Society of Licensed Conveyancers and the preferred training partner of Conveyancing Association members.
The coveted Apprentice Awards Cymru award, which recognises the achievement of individuals, employers and work-based learning practitioners in Wales across 12 different categories, was presented to Convey at the event’s first ever live virtual ceremony hosted by Welsh tenor and BBC presenter Wynne Evans.
Welsh National Opera star Wynne rewarded The Convey Team with their own “Go Convey” jingle in the style of his famous “Go Compare” advert as he presented the award for Best Medium Employer to Marketing Manager, Monique Burroughes, at the ceremony in front of a virtual wall of cheering finalists.
Based in Newport, South Wales, Convey Law developed and launched its own apprenticeship programme as it was struggling to recruit experienced conveyancers to grow the business.
The programme described as “life-changing” by its Managing Director Lloyd Davies provides complete novices with the opportunity to qualify as Licensed Conveyancers within 2 to 3 years whilst working and earning great salaries in a professional environment as they progress to qualification. Apprentices are taught to convey property within the first 12 months of their apprenticeship using the Academy’s Level 3 course.
In the last year alone, apprentice numbers have doubled from 15 to 30 and Convey Law’s total workforce is on course to double by the end of 2021 to just under 200.
Managing Director Lloyd Davies said: “The Conveyancing Academy has helped Convey Law to provide an apprenticeship programme which it is not an exaggeration to say that has been truly life-changing for some of our apprentices. It has provided them with a training pathway and a professional career with enhanced and sustainable prospects for them. It has also helped scores of other legal practices train and upskill their staff as a provider of its industry-leading courses to businesses around the UK.”
Mr Davies said he was “proud to have given something back to the conveyancing industry and to Wales”, adding: “At the Conveyancing Academy, we are all tremendously humbled to be recognised for the fantastic work our team have done in developing our apprenticeship programme and training courses.”
The Conveyancing Academy currently has a funding partnership with Cardiff and Vale College to offer its courses free of charge to other legal practices in Wales, with similar funding arrangements available for English legal practices. Courses are 95 – 100% Government- funded, allowing legal practices throughout the UK to grow their conveyancing teams quickly and effectively for the first time.
James Smith, Business Development Manager at the Conveyancing Academy, commented: “Convey Law are leading the way in showing conveyancing practices how they can train their new conveyancers and build their businesses.”
